 "Having been a commercial artist for many
years in New York, I now truly enjoy the freedom to create art without any
restrictions. By discovering mixed media and collage I am constantly
exploring and experimenting, collecting organic materials such as leaves,
twigs, flower petals, etc., pressing them carefully and then combining
these with layers of paint, papers, and other collage items.
These various
components are slowly transformed into an original design that is highly
personal and tactile, reflecting my love for the endless treasures that
nature has to offer.
The joy is in the
process - the contemplative, almost meditative part of it that appeals and
enriches me. In today's loud, fast and technology driven world, I
need to feel my personal connection to the environment around us, it's
textures, moods and ever changing atmosphere - more than ever.
The images are
sometimes quiet and introspective, mysterious and dream-like, or
impressionistic, infused with light, celebrating the many colors of water,
earth and sky that surrounds one here in Florida - a true gift to enjoy!
If the viewer
looking at my work comes away with a renewed appreciation and awareness of
our interconnectedness then I have achieved my goal."
